Bill Bartmann - Setting and Achieving Your Promises to Your Self

Team it’s a new year and new company…

Everyone today seems to be in Denial thinking it is some river in Egypt… it is not… You are the river of denial….Like the legend of sleeping hollow are you going to let 20 years slip by? Do you have another 20 years?

Maybe?

Maybe not?

Since I am in my late 40’s I have about 20 good years left. Do I want to continue to work at a job where people tell me what I can and cannot do? The corporate world today is changing each day. There is no guarantee if you work hard you keep your job…

I work in the sales industry I am tired of struggling to make ends meet and having to make a certain quotas each month… Sure you make your quota they love you… If you don’t you are put on a personal improvement plan- A plan that gives you no direction- just a tongue lashing and a written piece of paper marked PIP (personal improvement plan). Why is it called Personal Improvement plan there is no plan just a date and signatures and this goes in your file of  Welcome To Your Life- If you keep doing the same things your doing you will keep producing the same results- The sad truth is Upper management does not remember what you did only what you haven’t done?  I remember saying this to myself on the first of each month… Good morning HERO to ZERO… How destructive is that being nothing more than your numbers written on a white board? How can you get above water if you don’t have a plan?

Like Verizon CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?

SUCCESS requires commitment! Are you happy where you are? Are you ok just getting by? I am not and will no longer remain in the harbor -Yes there are bound to be rough waters but I cannot float along the river of denial with no direction and say I am satisfied.

So Today!

I challenge you to create a PROMISE PLAN!   A promise is kept 98% of the time versus committing to a goal which is only kept 70% of the time…

Today make a PROMISE TO YOU! Decide what you want out of life…

I am going to give you the 10 steps by Bill Bartmann (self made Billionaire) signature videos from IlearningGlobal.tv

SETTING AND ACHIEVING YOUR PROMISES TO YOUR SELF

Make sure it is your promise- Honor yourself- Decide what you want in life

Don’t call it a goal- You miss your goals more often that you hit them- Substitute the word goal for promise.

Clearly identify your promise- Write it down on paper

Use the tools around you-SuccessBuild.com- IlearningGlobal.com- Your mentors- Your family- Your friends

Create a promise plan- What, When, Where, Why, Who and How

What- Are you going to do!

When- Are you going to do it- When will you accomplish your promise to yourself! Not to your spouse- Not to your parents-Not to your friends BUT to YOU!

Where- Will you be when this happens??

Why- Do you want to keep this promise to yourself? What is your objective?

Who- Who’s help do you need to achieve this?  Remember I am here to help you. What do you need from me?

How- You ask how am I going to do it? Well the HOW is impossible to know right now….You only have to know the answer two things the WHAT and WHY- the HOW will appear as long as you can answer the WHAT and WHY.

Review your promise plan daily…Don’t say you don’t have enough time… Keep your promise plan in the reading room you call the bathroom… You have nothing else to do in there anyway….When you review your promise plan daily- new ideas come to you it is important to imbed this list in your subconscious.- Once information is imbedded in your subconscious mind you will see how the universe works to bring it about. Much like we use the word affirmations today your subconscious is a powerful tool.

Tell yourself you will succeed use Positive affirmations don’t listen to any other voice but yours… No one has control over your thoughts or your dreams only you know how big they can be… Don’t give up on you.

Tell others of your promise- Success requires commitment when you tell other people about it they may be able to provide you assistance or then again they may laugh at you… Don’t get mad respect their opinion- What greater motivation then a negative motivator… When they laugh at you write their name on a 5×7 index card keep it on your wall, desk cubicle etc.every time your about to give up think of them laughing at you. Let it be a reminder that you WILL succeed.

You have to be able to envision the results- Get posters- Get photos- Get anything that reminds you of your dream surround yourself with these items.

Helen Keller said “Life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing”

I’ve come to know that we do not succeed in spite of our challenges and difficulties – rather than precisely because of them.

Life is a buffet you can have what everyone else is having or you can follow your own path. Most times we live our lives following the herd…

Why do we not take risks? Why do we live life in quiet desperation?

We are much like the sailors prior to Christopher Columbus afraid if we launched our ships out of the harbor we would fall off the edge of the world.

Well there are worse things that could happen to you than to fall off the edge of the world -Such as resting in the harbor.
It is true ships are safe in the harbor – But that is not what ships are made for. And neither are you! I think it is so amazing that we are so afraid to leave the harbor. What are we afraid of?

FAILURE?

Well who told you failure was such a bad thing. Thomas Watson the founder of IBM said if you want to succeed more fail more- The Chinese say that “Its not whether you fail or not- only if you are content with that failure”.

The Failure is the process- it is one of the steps REQUIRED to achieve success.
It takes time. It takes failures and yet we stop because we are so afraid that we might fail. In fact sometimes we are so afraid of failure that we don’t even try- and there by we fail by default- it’s like saying if I go outside today I might get murdered so I will just stay home and commit suicide.

Never CHOOSE Failure- Michael Jordan did not make his first free throw- nor did Tiger Woods sink his first putt.

Ordinarily chances are you won’t make it on your first try. But you have a 99.9% chance of succeeding on your first try… How?

Jim Cathcarts Relationship Intelligence ™;

Jim Cathcarts Relationship Intelligence ™.
Premise: Your life is a series of Relationships
Our lives are lived through interactions with others.
Conclusion: If you change the mix, quality or quantity of your relationships
then you will, in fact, change your life experience.

So, being more Intelligent about which relationships you develop and
which you do not will have a profound effect on the quality of your
life.

Complete the following sentence: “It is not what you know that
counts, it is…”
Most people would answer: “It is Who you know.”
So, try this one: “It is not who you know that counts, it is…”

My recent audiences have replied, “It is who knows You!”

OK, so far we have been in familiar territory. No news yet.
Complete this sentence please: “It is not who knows you that counts,
it is…”
When I ask this in my speeches and seminars nobody responds. They just
look puzzled.
“You mean it isn’t who knows you? Then what does really
count?”
Here is my reply: “It is who is Glad that they know you that counts
the most.”
You see, until others are actually glad that they know you, you don’t
have much of a relationship with them. But when you cause others to
be proud of the fact that you are their friend, business contact, colleague,
neighbor, healthcare provider, sales rep, service technician, or advisor…then
you have built a true relationship asset.
By knowing some people you open new doors of potential, by knowing others
you close those doors. Ask Barack Obama how he feels about having a
long-term friendship with Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
What may once have been an asset, has in recent months become a profound
liability. It matters who we connect with and who we avoid.

Are your Relationships Assets…or liabilities.

Take a look at all of the relationships in your life today and then
reflect on which ones are assets and which are not. If you spend more
time with the assets and diminish your contacts with the liabilities,
then you will have consciously and intentionally enhanced your life.

Who is glad that they know you?

The more names you can list under that heading the more assets you
will have. What is a “relationship asset?” It is a direct
connection with someone else who also considers it important to sustain
that connection with you.
Take some time to reflect on that. Make a list of all the connections
you can think of in your life and then notice the ones where they feel
they are getting good value from the connection.

Here are four questions that are at the core of my Relationship Intelligence
message:

1. What do you want?
(Love, friendship, fun, money, support, opportunity, a contract, etc.)
All relationships are defined by what the participants want from the
relationship.

2. Who do you know?
When you know the right people you are in a position to produce the
outcomes you desire.

3. What do they want?
The better you understand their goals, desires and dreams the more you
can see ways to help them get it.

4. How can you help them get what they want?
Customer loyalty should be what we seek to give rather than what we
seek to get. As my friend and mentor Zig Ziglar is famous for saying,
“You can get anything you want in life if you will just help enough
other people get what they want.”
Take some time to reflect on this message. Print it out and carry it
with you. Look over it again each morning and think about what it means
to you. Do this for at least one month. Let me know how you have changed
things in your life.

Watch for more news on Jim Cathcart’s upcoming book: Who is glad
that they know you?

Intelligence ™.”

Fifteen Tactics for Maximizing Your Investment in Reading for
Personal Growth

One topic that seems to come up time and time again personal growth. I
hear questions all the time ranging from how to choose books that are
worth reading, how to know when a book isn’t really providing
answers for you, how to read faster, and how to actually apply learned
information to one’s life.

In response to these questions, I’ve drawn up a list of tactics
for people to use to get started on a successful habit of reading for
personal growth. Using these tactics will help you get the most out
of the books that you read, apply what you’ve learned to your
own life, and actually grow (either professionally or personally) as
a result of the reading.

Set aside a block of time each day for reading. Each and every day.
Fifteen minutes or a half an hour is a good time to set aside for concentrated,
focused reading. When you do this, go to a place in your home with minimal
distractions - no television, few opportunities for interruption, and
so on.

Start a journal to go along with your reading. When you start doing
such focused reading, it’s well worth your while to start a journal
to go along with it. For the last five minutes of your reading session,
jot down your thoughts about what you just read, and do it every time.
Doing this forces you to organize your thoughts about what you read
and makes you go through those thoughts again.

Determine an area of your life that you’d like to improve. Perhaps
you’d like to learn more about a particular topic, or maybe you’d
prefer to simply improve upon a particular set of skills. Spend some
time considering what exactly you’d like to educate yourself on.
Perhaps, for example, you’d like to learn more about western philosophy
- in particular, you’re trying to determine for yourself what
the meaning of life is. That’s a good starting place.

Utilize the library - but do it carefully. It’s tempting to go
to the library and leave with an armload of books, but for most readers
who aren’t devoting hours to the written word each day, leaving
with armloads is often a mistake, as books are left unread and quite
often wind up being late returns. Instead, use the library to just find
one or two books in your area at a time. That way, you’re more
careful with your selection, you’re more likely to actually finish
what you check out, and you’re less likely to accrue fines.

Start with the popular “survey” books in that area. Don’t
jump in with an obscure book in the area you want to learn more about.
Instead, choose a more general book that covers your area of interest
broadly. Instead of diving straight into Kant or Nietzsche, choose something
like Bertrand Russell’s History of Western Philosophy. That way,
you can start off with a general background in your field of interest.

Choose challenging books - but not too challenging. An appropriate
book is one where you don’t already know all of the ideas before
you pick it up, but you’re not completely lost by the end of the
first or second chapter, either. You can usually figure this out by
reading through the first chapter or two right at the library or bookstore.
If it’s over your head, don’t be ashamed at choosing something
simpler - you might find that after reading a few other books, that
first hard book isn’t really so hard after all.

Don’t worry about the speed of your reading. Many readers write
to me, worried that they’re not reading fast enough. My advice
is usually that they’re not reading slow enough. Don’t worry
about how fast you’re reading. The point of reading is to understand
and absorb the ideas, and that’s a process that simply goes at
different speeds for different people. The key to reading is to make
sure that you’re picking up the ideas - speed will gradually come
with practice as your brain becomes attuned to the process of reading.

Couple your reading with extensive use of online resources, especially
Wikipedia. Whenever you hit upon something in a book that you don’t
understand, don’t keep rolling. Stop. Do some research into the
point that you don’t understand. Look up key terms and facts online
- Wikipedia is a great place for this. When I’m reading a suitably
challenging book, I might find myself stopping on every page to do this,
but when I do it, I can move forward in the book without trouble or
confusion.

Always try to extract the main point from what you’ve just read.
At the end of each reading session, make an effort to try to identify
what the main point of what you just read was. What did you learn from
it that’s actually valuable? What did the piece you just read
tell you about the broader subject in question? These are great things
to think about and journal about.

John Gray Personal Success is Getting What You Want;

MONEY, RECOGNITION, marriage, children, a great job, terrific clothes, winning a lottery, or any other form of outer success is like a magnifying glass that has turned on your inner feelings. If you are already peaceful, you will feel more peaceful. If you are already happy and loving; you will be happier and more loving. If you are already confident, you will be more confident.

On the other hand, to the degree that you are not happy, the joy, love confidence, or peace in your life will diminish. Without you first achieving personal success, the “having more” will just complicate your life and create more problems. If you are not happy first, getting rich will not make you any happier.

If you are already happy and you know that you are not dependent on more money to be happy, greater wealth can make you happier. There is nothing wrong with wanting more money. The quest for more money limits us only when we forget the real source of happiness within.

The secret of getting what you want and wanting what you have (John Gray) first to learn how to be happy, loving, confident and peaceful regardless of our conditioning. Then as you achieve more worldly success, you can become happier. By first learning to be happy with what you already have, material success will flow in an appropriate manner according to what you really want in life.

By partnering with SuccessBuild.com, iLearningGlobal.tv and our 145 faculty members.

John Gray Personal Success is Getting What You Want;

John Gray’s book; How to Get What You Want and Want What You
Have. There are four steps to achieve greater Personal success in your
life.

Step One: Set your intention. Recognize where you
are now and clearly see where you need to go to achieve the right balance
of inner and outer success for you. No matter how hard you try, if you
are going in the wrong direction, all you will meet in life is resistance,
and you will never reach where you want to go. By acting in harmony
with your soul’s desire, and not just the desires of your mind,
heart and senses, you will be well prepared for both inner and outer
successes.

Step Two: Get what you need. Learn how to get what
you need to be true to yourself. It’s not enough to say, “I
want to be me.” To know you and to be true to yourself, you must
understand the ten different kinds of love and support that every person
needs. With an understanding of what you are missing and how to get
it, you will begin automatically to experience inner successes. A car
may work fine, but if you don’t fill it up with gas it won’t
run. Likewise, if you are not getting certain love needs fulfilled,
you cannot find your true self.

Step Three: Get what you want. Understand the secrets
of creating outer success without having to give up being true to yourself,
and you will begin to get everything you want in the outer world. Realize
the importance of strong desires, positive beliefs, and passionate feelings
in creating and attracting what you want. Learn how to strengthen the
power of your desires by acknowledging and transforming negative feelings
and emotions.

Step Four: Remove the blocks to personal success.
Become aware of the twelve common blocks that could be holding you back
from having what you want, begin to clear the way for both inner and
outer success. Learn to release any of the twelve blocks that maybe
holding you back: blame, depression, anxiety, indifference, judgment,
indecision, procrastination, perfectionism, resentment, self-pity, confusion,
and guilt. With this new ability, you will begin to experience that
nothing outside yourself is holding you back.

John Gray is the author of nine bestsellers and is internationally
recognized expert in the fields of communication, relationships and
personal growth.
I am excited that John has become a member of the iLearningGlobal faculty.

There is a secret to personal success –Success Build along with
iLearningGlobal will show you the secret!
You will learn from the Masters, and you will have everything within
your reach to live a rich and fulfilling life and YOU will be well on
your way to achieving your goals.

IS THERE SUCH A THING AS TOO MANY CHANCES?
I remember reading an excerpt from a book called FIVE WISHES written
by Gay Hendricks. It was how keeping your word you come in contact with
unexpected rewards.

Webster’s states completion is finishing something and making
it whole.

I know when I complete something it gives me a power that goes beyond
a good feeling. What I’ve come to see is that the act of completing
something, no matter how large or small it puts you into harmony with
the universe.

If I say to you, “I’ll call you today,” I have created
a new force in the universe, a new agreement about how things will be.
If I then make good on my agreement and call you today, I line myself
up in harmony with those forces.

However, if I don’t call you today, I leave a loose end, an open
circuit, an unresolved story line. By not calling you, I communicate
something that affects my life and our relationship: my word is no good
and you are not worth my effort to keep my word.

IS THERE SUCH A THING AS TOO MANY CHANCES?
Yes!

Even though I strongly believe in second and third and fourth chances
for people, I have learned the hard way that there is also such a thing
as too many chances.

In baseball, it is three strikes and you’re out. In basketball, if
you keep committing fouls, they don’t let you keep playing. They take
you out of the game.

Of course with children or people that are learning a new skill, patience
and guidance is important. We learn by making mistakes. We learn what
to do by experiencing the hard way, what not to do. Mistakes are an
important part of learning.

But when it comes to things such as loyalty and accountability –
when it comes to such things as someone not being willing to take responsibility
for their choices and their actions – when it comes to certain
standards of kindness, attitude and honesty – there really is
such a thing as too many chances.
