Jump- Richard Paul Evans Helen Keller said “Life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing” I’ve come to know that we do not succeed in spite of our challenges and difficulties – rather than precisely because of them. Life is a buffet you can have what everyone else is having or you can follow your own path. Most times we live our lives following the herd… Why do we not take risks? Why do we live life in quiet desperation? We are much like the sailors prior to Christopher Columbus afraid if we launched our ships out of the harbor we would fall off the edge of the world. Well there are worse things that could happen to you than to fall off the edge of the world -Such as resting in the harbor. FAILURE? Well who told you failure was such a bad thing. Thomas Watson the founder of IBM said if you want to succeed more fail more- The Chinese say that “Its not whether you fail or not- only if you are content with that failure”. The Failure is the process- it is one of the steps REQUIRED to achieve success. Never CHOOSE Failure- Michael Jordan did not make his first free throw- nor did Tiger Woods sink his first putt. Ordinarily chances are you won’t make it on your first try. But you have a 99.9% chance of succeeding on your first try… How? When Richard Paul Evans wrote the #1 best-seller, The Christmas Box, he never intended on becoming an internationally known author. Officially, he was an advertising executive, an award-winning clay animator for the American and Japanese markets, candidate for state legislature and most importantly, husband and father. The Christmas Box was written as an expression of love for his (then) two daughters. Though he often told them how much he loved them, he wanted to express his love in a way that would be timeless. In 1993, Evans reproduced 20 copies of the final story and gave them to his closest relatives and friends as Christmas presents. In the month following, those 20 copies were passed around more than 160 times, and soon word spread so widely that bookstores began calling his home with orders for it. |
